Accommodations
The Interior layout of the Wylie 38 was clearly designed to minimize weight and to concentrate the heaviest components down low over the keel. This has been done, however not at the expense of comfort and style. Efforts to offer good cruising accommodations in a race-conscious interior have resulted in a wonderfully unobstructed interior plan ideal for both racing and cruising. Eleven feet and five inches of beam and over six feet of headroom have given this Wylie a lot to work with. Beautiful teak bulkheads and trim are placed on an attractive off-white interior and a varnished teak and holly sole runs the length of the cabin. The galley of the Wylie 38 is placed to starboard and is equipped with two well insulated ice boxs, a deep stainless sink, and a two-burner stove and oven. The counters are covered with attractive white Formica, which blends beautifully with the white of the hull liner and provides an excellent working surface. Directly opposite the galley is a generous chart table with a hinged lid, a shelf, and storage compartments. The table faces fore and aft, with the navigator comfortably seated on a built-in bench seat. There are large settee berths in the main cabin, a V-berth forward and two-quarter berths aft. Cutouts in the berth structure provide easy access to storage compartments and to the fuel and water tanks. The cruising sailor will enjoy a beautifully equipped head, with a hanging locker, and there is another hanging locker in the main cabin with storage areas behind the settees and shelf space above the bunks.

Construction
The Wylie 38 has been constructed entirely out of cored fiberglass to excellent standards of limited production custom boat building technique.  The hull has been constructed utilizing "DIVINCELL" high-density foam, which has been laminated between alternating layers of fiberglass mat and cloth.  The combination was vacuum bag sealed utilizing a high-grade polyester resin creating a continuous one piece, ultra light hull configuration.  Hollow cored fiberglass longitudinal stringers and birch faced marine grade transverse plywood bulkheads are fully bonded into place and add additional hull strength.  The keel is of cast lead, fin shaped and bolted onto the hull bottom via a series of 3/4" S/S keel bolts.  Keel weight as designed is approximately 5,100 lbs, cast lead.  A balsa wood cored reinforced molded deck and superstructure have then been chemically bonded and mechanically fastened to the hull sides.  The exterior is finished with an iso-polyster gelcoat on hull sides with deck surfaces and hull painted with sterling paint..
